This dining table is worn and scratched,
I don’t want it anymore;
the wood is chipped, chairs don’t match,
like the one at the furniture store.
There it was, that modern shine,
so beautiful and new;
I found it so much better than mine,
that table was on sale, too!
“Remember all those family games?”
I heard my daughter say;
“A new one just won’t be the same,
I like our family table this way.”
Holiday meals, assembling toys,
the science projects for class;
all the memories that gave us joy,
those years, they flew so fast.
All of these our table holds,
that I just can’t leave behind;
and even though our table is old,
there isn’t one better than mine.
